Translational Informatics

You are here

Translational informatics is the application of research informatics to translational research: research designed to accelerate translation of scientific discoveries from the bench to medical care at the bedside, improving the health of the community.

The Center for Research Informatics (CRI) at UIC provides the clinical information services to the UIC community and other organizations.

We currently host the Tissue bank (biorepository). We have experience using coding scheme translation to normalize data sets to a given coding scheme. Previous efforts translated ICD-9 coding to ICD-10 coding, ICD-9 coding to SnoMED coding and utilizing the UMLS Metathesaurus to map Natural Language Processed output across schemes.
